Fiona Muller of ERM CIC ran workshops in fashion of the forties at Silver Road Community Centre through the winter and spring. Participants here and at John Lewis created garments and learned new heritage skills in clothes making - many hadn't used sewing equipment previously and have been inspired to continue.
National Lottery Heritage Fund supported.
School pupils from Wayland Academy made pinafores too!
John Lewis staff made us all very welcome and supplied live 40's music and singers, a large crowd enjoyed the walk about fashion show and watched the film made by ERM.
Silver Road Community Centre held a 30's / 40's tea dance which was attended by over 50 local people of all ages and abilities. Scones, sandwiches and lashings of tea were the order of the day. Some people from Whitehall Lodge enjoyed a dance too!
Volunteers ensured the day ran smoothly. With thanks to all who took part and to Lottery players for making this happen!
